Codex is designed to be versatile and support a variety of node types to cater to different user needs and network configurations.
Here's a breakdown of the node types we currently support:
Validator Nodes: These are the backbone of the Codex network. Validator nodes are responsible for participating in the consensus mechanism, verifying transactions, and adding new blocks to the blockchain. They play a crucial role in maintaining the security and integrity of the network. Running a validator node typically requires staking a certain amount of the network's native token.
Full Nodes: Full nodes maintain a complete copy of the entire blockchain history. They independently verify all transactions and blocks, contributing to the network's security and decentralization. While they don't actively participate in consensus like validator nodes, they are essential for data availability and network health.
Light Nodes (or SPV Clients): Light nodes, also known as Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) clients, do not store the entire blockchain. Instead, they only download block headers and use Merkle proofs to verify the existence of transactions. This makes them lightweight and efficient, suitable for devices with limited storage and bandwidth. They rely on full nodes for accessing the complete blockchain data.
Archive Nodes: Archive nodes are a type of full node that stores the entire historical state of the blockchain, not just the current state. This allows for querying historical data, which can be valuable for analytics, auditing, and building certain types of applications. They require significantly more storage than regular full nodes.
In addition, we support Gala nodes and Codex is the preferred hosting partner for Connect United which includes the following brands:
- AdventureWurld
- Codex
- Element
- Elevate
- Foundations AI
- Galvan
- Give
- Grow United
- Hyper
- Liberty
- R-Link
- Revo Ride
- Set Power Free
- Switch Reward Card
We are continuously exploring and plan to add support for other node types in the future as the Codex ecosystem evolves. Stay tuned for updates!
